Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University continues to renew its academic structure according to the professions of the future and the changing expectations of the business world. With new departments and programs opened in the fields of health, information technology, engineering, agriculture, animal husbandry, and design, MAKÜ aims to offer its students stronger career opportunities and contribute to the country's need for qualified human resources.

In this context, the MAKÜ Faculty of Medicine, one of the university's most important academic investments, is preparing to accept its first students in the new academic year. Established on June 30, 2025, by presidential decree, the Faculty of Medicine is starting its educational journey with the student admission permission received from the Higher Education Council.

Considered an important investment that will strengthen Burdur's health infrastructure, the Faculty of Medicine will initially implement an affiliation model. In line with this model, the existing state hospital will serve under the status of a Training and Research Hospital, hosting the practical training of medical students. Thus, students will have the opportunity to grow in a modern healthcare environment alongside expert physicians in their field, in addition to theoretical education.

Rector Dalgar: “We are implementing new generation departments and programs that will offer our students stronger career opportunities”

MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar highlighted the university's academic transformation vision in a statement made on his social media account regarding the first-time student admissions of nine new departments and programs.

In his statement, Rector Dalgar used the following expressions:

“We are renewing our university's academic structure by considering the needs of the changing world, technological transformation, and the future of professions.

As MAKÜ, instead of areas with declining preference trends; we are implementing new generation departments and programs that will offer high employment returns, compatible with the professions of the future, and provide our students with stronger career opportunities.

In the new academic year, along with our Faculty of Medicine, nine new departments and programs in health, information technology, engineering, agriculture, animal husbandry, and design will accept students for the first time.

Our goal is to ensure that our students make more conscious choices, prepare them strongly for the future business world, and contribute to our country's need for qualified human resources.”
